Description
Many Radio Amateurs like to collect unique 4-character Grid Squares (called Squares though they are actually rectangles!), and display them on a map. The 'Time Mapper UHD' provides this facility for QSOs in your imported Ham Log (ADIF or Cabrillo), those arriving live via the Logger feed, or those downloaded via PSK Reporter, as long as it is not viewing 'Unique Countries'.
A 4-character 'Grid Square' is a rectangle measuring one degree of latitude high by two degrees of longitude wide, that contains the position of the contact.
The Amateur Radio contacts that are stored in one of the three Ham Logs, those arriving via the live Logger Feed, or those downloaded via PSK Reporter can have their associated Grid Square plotted on the map in this map-layer, as long as the contact was not provided with a random-position or center-of-country position when the log imported.
In the Layer Menu, you can use the 'Additional Layer Features' control that is associated with the 'Ham Radio > Worked Grid Squares' layer to select one of the three Ham Logs, the Logger Feed, or PSK Reporter; then choose to plot all Grid Squares, or only those for a selected Band or Mode (where available).
Grid Squares are classed as 'Points', and have an entry in the 'Point Color' column of the Layer Menu. Clicking the associated button will open the 'Edit Worked Grid Square Style' window. You can then select a single Band/Mode, edit the colors for the single Bands/Modes, or edit the common colors that are used when all Bands or Modes are selected.
When viewing the 'Worked Grid Squares' map-layer, you might also find it useful to see lots of extra information by viewing the appropriate Info Bar page: Logger Feed (IL), Ham Log (IM), or PSK Reporter (IN). These pages have a number of sub-pages that cycle automatically, and there are multiple oportunities to open Pop-Outs by clicking items in the sub-pages - too numerous to mention, so have fun experimenting with them.
FAQs
Q. Not all Grid-Squares for my QSOs are being plotted on the map.
A. Yes - this is unavoidable. I do not plot a Grid Square if the QSO-position was derived from a random-position or a center-of-country position.
